Daltonism
John Dalton once said
“ If I have succeeded better than many who surround me, it has been chiefly – may I say almost solely - from universal assiduity.” Translation: "If I have had more success than others it is due to universal attention to my work." Another popular quote is "Its the right idea, but not the right time." |
Color Blindness was first studied on September 8, 1794 by an English chemist. The chemist, John Dalton, named this disorder after himself. He called it Daltonism. Dalton first became interested in the disorder when he found out he had it himself. It intrigued him that both he and his brother were color blind. He came up with the theory that being color blind was an inherited trait from your ancestors. This theory was soon proved to be true after he did many genetic examinations. Being the first to study color vision deficiency was one of Dalton's greatest achievements aside from his work on modern atomic theory.
